Judith Allen, Ph.D. and Michael Robinson, LBSW, RC. have been teaching the course as Distance Learning for 7 years, however, the course has been offered by the APMHA Continuing Education Department since 1992.
The curriculum covers beginning through advanced understanding of the several theoretical perspectives of the process of hypnosis, and supervised case work practicum. Weekly testing, individually supervised case work reports, and final testing result in certification by American Psychotherapy and Medical Hypnosis Association as well as accredited ceu’s for psychologists, counselors (NBCC), LSCW’s and MFCC’s. Continuing support from all members after completion of course. (Note: The course is designed to be completed in 6 weeks of programmed study. There is a 1 week grace period. Course monitoring beyond this point is charged at $25.00 per week.)
Requirements for admission to course:The course is open to licensed medical and mental health professionals only. Please note that if you are not qualified your fee will be refunded and there will be a $45 processing charge.
Note: For registrants living outside of the US there is an addition charge of $60 for shipping course materials.

- Medical and Dental Hypnosis
- Working with addictive behaviors
- Age-regression Hypnosis
- Working with victims of abuse and avoiding re-traumatization
- Pain control theories and applications
- Healing processes for grief and loss
- Ethical and legal concerns
- Theories and current debates regarding Medical Hypnosis
- Effective use of Idiomotor responses

Judith Allen, Ph.D.
is the founder (1992) of the American Psychotherapy and Medical Hypnosis Association (APMHA), a national professional education and referral organization for licensed medical and mental health professional who use hypnosis and hypnotherapy in their clinical practice http://APMHA.com Dr. Allen has been in practice for 23 years, as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Certified Trauma Resolution Specialist. Dr. Allen has been training hypnotherapists online for 7 years, and has written the manual used in this course.
Michael A. Robinson, R.N., LBSW
is a licensed social worker and RN who has been teaching medical and mental health professions in the use of hypnosis since 1993. Mr. Robinson specializes in medical treatments with hypnosis and the constructive use of trance for victims of trauma and abuse.
